When are we open? - We are open mid June to mid October. It is highly recommended that you book early to avoid disappointment during the peak season from July through end of August.

Office hours of operation: 10 to 5pm.

Check In: As from 4pm.

Check Out: 11am.

Is there charge for late check-out? - Check out after 11am will be charged as a day stay.

How do I find out about cottage availability and make a reservation? - Please book your cottage on our book now page or you can send us an email directly to [email protected]  You can call us on 6136526277  to discuss for any phone reservations or enquiries.  If  you wish to confirm a reservation we will require a valid  credit card details. 

What should I bring? - Our units come fully equipped with modern kitchens and 3/4 piece bathrooms. Each cottage has a microwave, fully size stove with oven in cottages 1,3,7,8,9,10, hot plate (has no oven/stove) in cottages 4,5,6, refrigerator, toaster, coffee-maker, kettles, dishes and cooking utensils. Our bedrooms have firm mattresses and have large screened windows. Each cottage has its own deck and outside furniture, as well has its own propane barbecue.

Are the Cottages Air Conditioned/Heated? All cottages have one window air conditioner, normally located in the bedroom.  Cottages 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 also have ceiling fans. If the forecast is for extremely hot/humid weather, you may wish to bring additional fans from home. Infrared heaters are in all cottages for use during the early spring and late fall months. 

Is the water drinkable? - YES. Our water from the cottage taps is potable well water. For your safety, our water is chlorinated and regularly tested. If you prefer, bring your own bottled drinking water.

What should I bring? - Bring only your clothes, swimming suits, food, drinks, fishing gear, cameras, sunscreen, bug spray, toiletries, pool towels, pool toys etc. Each unit is provided with a small, basic supply of basic cleaning liquids,  toilet paper, soap and shampoo only to get you started. Bring your own spices, salt/pepper, sugar, coffee/filters, kitchen towels, flash lights, matches. Two well appointed grocery stores and beer/liquor stores are available within 5-10 minutes drive from the resort.

Where do I get firewood? - Bring your own firewoods or you can buy a large bundle from us for $15.00  cash.

Are Linens Provided? - Linens (i.e sheets, pillow cases, hand and bath towels) are provided (charged as part of the resort fee). We do not provide pool towels. Please bring pool towels.

Is there internet? We have free wireless WIFI which can be accessed at most cottages (depending on the sensitivity of your device). The internet provided to the cottages has a limited bandwidth that is sufficient for email but is not sufficient for NETFLIX movie streaming. 

Is there TV? All cottages have a TV that allows antenna HD reception (normally 10-20 local stations). If you lose the remote, you will be charged $50 to cover the cost of a replacement.  

May we have guests visit us ? Each unit has a maximum number of persons which may be accommodated. Any person beyond that maximum number is considered a day guest and a fee of $20 per guest/day is payable. Such day guests are entitled to use the facilities at Doran Bay Resort e.g. pool, barbecues, washrooms, canoes/kayaks, however they may not stay overnight inside your cottage if you already have the maximum number of persons permitted for your unit.

May we bring tents or campers in order to have day guests stay overnight? Doran Bay is not yet equipped to handle large RVs or large pop-up campers. If a party renting a unit wishes to set up a tent or small pop-up trailer/camper, we will try to accommodate such a request. Each tent/trailer will be charged $25/day. As stated previously, a day guest who sleeps in the tent/trailer will be charged $20/day. Day guests sleeping in the tent or camper are entitled to use the facilities at the unit rented including the unit washroom, shower, BBQ, pool, canoes/kayaks etc. It is important to note that no electrical or other services will be provided to the tent or trailer camper.

What is there to do at Doran Bay? 

Pool - We have a 20'X40' in-ground pool with large interlocking brick deck that has a dramatic view of the bay and river.  Pool opens at 9 am and closes a 9 pm. You must READ and abide by the pool policies stated on signage before entering the pool/pool area.

Canoes and kayaks - We do not provide any canoes or kayaks. You can bring your own or rent one from us.

Campfires - We have 4 campfire pits for guests to use. Enjoy an evening campfire along the shoreline with the lights of Iroquois dam and locks twinkling, and the lighted ships sailing past. Firewood may be purchased at a cost of $10.00/bundle. Guests need to bring lawn chairs for firepits.

Fishing - There is excellent fishing from shore or off one of our docks. Use one of our canoes to fish or ring your own fishing boat and tie it up at one of our docks.  There is excellent bass, perch, pike, pickerel and carp fishing in the bay. Licenses and bait/worms can be purchased at Canadian Tire in Morrisburg.

Scenery/Wildlife - Enjoy unforgettable vistas of beautiful St. Lawrence River where you will watch large ships sail past Doran Bay then slowly navigate through the Seaway Iroquois Lock. Take in the sights and sounds of fish jumping and hundreds of migratory birds resting in the Doran Creek - a Provincially Significant Wetland/Fish and Migratory Bird Sanctuary.  If you love bird photography, we have: osprey, blue heron, loon, Canada geese, assorted varieties of ducks, as well as beaver, mink and muskrat in the bay. Enjoy fantastic sunsets, especially during the autumn. Normally there is a refreshing westerly breeze, even on the hottest summer nights. Are pets allowed? No, pets are not allowed. 

Can I bring my boat? Certainly, we have dockage which should accommodate most boats up to a maximum of 16-18 feet at $20 per day. Boat dockage is free and at the owner's risk. A boat launching ramp and gas is located nearby at Iroquois Municipal Marina on the road leading to the Seaway Lock Ship Passage Outlook.

Are you cyclist friendly? Yes, we have a safe place to store your cycle as well as tools for making repairs. 

What do I do at check-in? Check-in is after 4 pm.  Instructions on how to reach your cottage and where to park will be posted on a board at the front entrance. Instructions regarding the key will be posted.

What do I do at check-out? Check-out is 11am. Make sure the cottage is left as clean as you found it, otherwise you will be charged a cleaning fee ($50). This means that: floors are to broomed and moped before you leave; used/wet towels/face-clothes are to be left in the tub/shower; dishes/pots/utensils are to be washed and returned where you found them; BBQ grill is to be clean; all recycle and garbage bags are to be put in the garbage building beside the garage on your way out. The key can be left in the door or returned to the key drop off at the front office door.
